About Rohini Estate
Kurseong, lower slopes · 1,500–4,400 ft · est. 1955 · AV2 and T-78 clones
The lowest and youngest of the Darjeeling gardens we buy from, on warm foothill slopes below Kurseong. Planted in 1955, then left untouched from 1962 to 1996. Over those three decades the bushes grew semi-wild and set roots far deeper than a worked garden allows. The warmth ripens the leaf faster and more sweetly than the high estates.
ProductionSmall-batch and openly experimental: Japanese cultivars, whites and oolongs made in lots of a few kilos. Nothing here is made the same way twice, which is the point.
